Can someone please tell me how the capture process differs when using a
video camera which records to har drive or SD?

I'm looking to buy a new camera but ones which record to mini dv tape seem
to be very expensive.

The way I do it is I record on a SD card and I have a card reader in the
editing machine, I take the SD card put it in the card reader and copy the
files to the hard drive to edit.

We had a camera with a built in hard drive and we would take the camera and
connect it to the editor machine via USB and just copy the video files to
the editor hard drive for editing.
