I need to convert Hi8 videos to for recording on
dvd, with apossiblity of editing our here and there,
nothing professional. (Say a lot of editing out of
unwanted sounds and commentary.) Later I wish to
download my dv videos for similar recordings and editing.
I heard and read some terrible reviews about the firewire
av/dv coverter. Something to do with timings?
Much of this was over a year ago.
Therefore I wish to know if this is still true for the
Pinnacle device that covers my needs.
Are there better competing devices?
How about "terratec"?
I do not expect to become an amateur movie buff,
I'm just someone who videoed everything on holiday
for a few years.
I am no techie, and I dont want to fiddle around.
My dv recorder does not offer av input, so it cannot
be used to convert it and output to PC.
I need something that will convert my av Hi8 stuff
for recording on dvd.
My PC should be ok when I add a new hard drive
and a dvd writer.
My current had drive seems to be Maxtor 6Lo40J2
which seems to be "ATA"? I always thought my
drive was UDMA133
I have a cd writer (*24) and a dvd player.
Both seem ok, so which one to replace?
I have a little card which it says is for a firewire input
to PC.
If my hd and dvd writer come to 100 English pounds and
a new Pinnacle card (around 200 English pounds?) and my
computer is about 2 years old, then I might consider
giving it away to a needy person I know and buying a new one.
Depends upon your replies, reviews and estimated prices.
Thanks in expectation,
